15-year-old Ryan Matheus Andrade, from Amazonas, left the CT (Training Center) Ninho do Urubu the night before the fire that hit the accommodation for young Flamengo athletes, on the morning of this Friday, 02/08, in Rio de Janeiro. January. Ten people died on the spot and three others were injured. The accommodation is located in Ninho do Urubu, in the West Zone of Rio.

The player from Amazonas, who lives in the area, said he left the CT due to the day off he would have this Friday, the 8th, at the request of his mother, who asked him to sleep at the family home. “I stayed until half past eight at night. We trained yesterday. I came home because I wasn’t going to have training today, then they released me. My mother insisted on coming home yesterday and I came”, said the player.

Ryan is a former resident of the Ouro Verde neighborhood, east of Manaus, and gave his first kicks at the Amazonas Worker’s Club (SESI, Aleixo). Afterwards, he won a scholarship and went to show his talent on the futsal team at Recanto da Criança. He shone in his native land, where he was champion of official and amateur competitions. He studies and has a training contract with Flamengo.

The flames reached the facilities where players aged between 14 and 17 who did not reside in Rio slept. The dead have yet to be identified. Firefighters even said that they were all teenagers, but there is no official information.
